Work in progress

It is so much fun to be working on new items, don't you agree? I'm sure all of you creative beings feel the same.

Spring is already in the air today. The snow has melted and is completely gone here, and after three days of rain, the sun is finally shining again. I a always so happy to see the sun. Really brightens up my day.

So I got my schetchbook out, made some notes, read several blogs on how to create a jewelry collection and got going. After having made the sketches, I went shopping for some new silk thread and glass beads and started to crochet.

This is what I got so far.

Vibrant orange glass beads and multicolour silk. So far I have crocheted two tubes to combine with the beads.

A lovely soft pink and green silk that I want to combine with glass beads in the same delicate colours.

Two crochet tubes in yellow, blue and green silk. This goes nicely together with the white glass beads.

And two crochet tubes in flashy purple silk. I want to combine these with orange or read beads.

Something entirely different

People who know me, know that I do not only crochet, but also bake pastry. I am in training to become a pastry chef (Hotelschool Spermalie, Brugge). I just love to bake!

Yesterday we made Macarons de Paris. Baking macarons is quite difficult and a delicate job. It can go wrong on many levels. Almost everything has to be done by hand. A good macaron can easily cost € 1,25 per piece.

I am very proud to show you the macarons I made in class yesterday and which, according to my chef, could be sold at € 1,25.
These pink macarons are filled with lemon cream. You can fill them with anything you like, and of course, you can make them in any colour.

A crochet weekend

The weather is bad, and yesterday it snowed all day. So, I decided to have a 'crochet day'. I made two pairs of earrings, a matching necklace for one of those earrings, wristwarmers and two cowls. I loved it! I want more of those crochet days!

Enjoy the pictures.

wrist warmers: pattern Ravelry, shell wrist warmers.
I saw the pattern on Cherry Heart and loved it so much that I decided to make them too.

The crochet cowl is made with Austermann, the yarn is what makes this special, the crochet is very easy. On her blog Kristel of Wol en Zo shows you how to crochet this cowl.

New crochet jewelry

Now that I have been selected to participate in two fairs, I have to start working on some new items.
These past few days I have finished a pair of earrings in red and blue and a necklace in several colours  around the colour purple.

Busy busy busy

These last few weeks have been extremely busy: translations and revisions kept me stuck behind the computer until late at night, leaving me without any spare time to crochet. How I long for my crochet hook and yarn!

But I do have two items of good news: I have been selected to participate in Handgema(r)kt in Genk, on March 24, 2013. Handgema(r)kt is a one-day fair for creative businesses. I am so excited to have been chosen! And I can also give demonstrations on how to crochet jewelry.

The second piece of good news is that Ineseda has als been selected to particpate in De Bonte Fabriek, in Sint-Niklaas, on April 14th, 2013. This is another fair for creatieve businesses.

Being selected means that I have to create plenty of new crochet items, crochet earrings, crochet necklaces etc.! Can't wait!

Crochet book cover

A few months ago my youngest daughter came home with a school project: she had to make a cover for her school diary. Could be anything, but the entire making of had to be shown, explained with words and pictures.

So with a mum who loves to crochet, she quickly decided that she wanted a crochet cover.

We gathered all materials.

Made a pattern.

And then I started to crochet.

This is the result. My daughter loves bright colours. I bet you didn't guess :)

Custom order crochet necklace

A dear friend of mine asked me to create a crochet necklace. She made the polymer clay beads and wanted to see them combined in a crochet necklace. The beads are unique and so very special, they did not need much. So I opted for a Grand Central Line in red and blue. I'm very pleased with the result. Hopefully she is as well!

The quality of the picture is bad, I know, I had to take it at night, with flash, but still, you can see how it looks, no?

Random overzicht van 2012

Some of my crochet projects of 2012. It was difficult to chose pictures. When selecting them I only realised how many items I have crocheted, hopefully I can crochet as many this year :)

Happy new year everyone!
