11 - 12 -13

Today is a special date, a date that apparently inspires people to get married.
For me this is also a special date, not because I am getting married, but because my mum celebrates her 70th birthday today.

A while ago I crocheted a triangle scarf in crocodile stitch for my daughter. When my mum saw me working on this scarf, she loved it. So, as a surprise, I made her this scarf. I hope she likes it!

Noro

Kennen jullie Noro Yarns? Japans garen.

Do you know Noro Yarns? Japanese yarn. It is so lovely, comes in many qualities (wool, silk etc) and colour combinations.
A while ago I discovered an amazing Noro book of crochet. It contains 30 crochet patterns, 30 unique patterns. I could not find the book in a shop here, but could order it at a yarn shop in Oostende (Stoffenhuys Paulette). When I went to pick up my copy of the book, I immediately bought some of that lovely yarn off course.

I wanted to crochet a hat. I ended up with a new crochet hat and matching mittens. The mittens are finished, the hat not yet completely done. I love these mittens, they're so soft and luxurious.

Through one of the many facebook groups I'm a member of, I received a custom order for this bright orange necklace. It measeures about 90 cm long and is a combination of crochet beads and crochet tubes. The enitre necklace is one piece, no seems anywhere. Normally I use wooden beads but that would make the necklace very heavy. So I found these white foam ones that I painted orange to hide the white.

I started off with a magic cercle of 6 sc, as I always do when crocheting a bead. After this I continued with the sc to crochet around the bead. At the end of the bead, I decreased until 8 sc remained. I continued with those 8 sc and crochet the tube, in a spiral like manner, so no closing of each round with a slip stitch.

I wanted my customer to have multiple possibilities for wearing this necklace, so I added a sort of locket enabling her to wear the necklace long or shorter.

Crochet scarfs - gehaakte kragen

Wouldn't you like to stop time sometimes?

I need a pause button! These last few weeks have been so hectic, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. School has started again for my children, my evening classes have started (I am now in training to become a chef), husband has been very busy at work with lunch meetings, evening meetings etc. So sometimes when I feel like I'm being lived instead of actually live, I long for a pause button.

Fortunately I have my own special pause button! Crochet! Nothing relaxes me more than a crochet hook and some lovely silk thread.

This is what I have been working on these last few weeks.

A necklace with matching bracelets and earrings (not yet finished) in pure silk off course and combined with pink jade beads and blue agate.

Another crochet collar. Someone suggested me to make one in creamy white with a twist of gold. I loved the idea, so here is the result.

And something funny. On one of the many Pinterest boards I follow, I saw this funny crochet ring and decided to make one myself. Also in pure silk obviously. Not your every day ring, is it?

Another crochet collar/necklace

I could not resist, it was so much fun crocheting the collar necklace, that I decided to crochet one in a different colour combination. These are more my kind of colours, a warm oker yellow and a vibrant purple.

I have tried to take a picture of myself wearing the necklace, not easy, and the light certainly is not good, but it gives you an idea of the length of the necklace.

Pretty in pink

Last week I bought some new silk thread in lovely colours. Two of those colours are bright pink and green.

Yesterday I tried a new design. I love those crochet collars. They are usually made with cotton thread but I thought I'd give it a try with my soft and shiny silk.

I adapted a pattern I found in Simply Crochet for a collar and this is the result.

Looking good, doesn't it? I'm really pleased with the result and can see a new line for my collection. What do you think?

WIP's

Hello lovelies,

After a great summer, it is back to reality here. School started this week so my girls are picking up their routines, hubby is back to work and after my surgery I'm slowly getting back to work also.

 The Seine.

We have visited  Paris, went to see a friend who moved to Italy last year and opened a B&B in San Damiano d'Asti and ended with a week rest in the region of Lyon and Saint-Etienne in France.

Obviously there has been time to crochet! I have been looking for a case for my crochet hooks. Never found what I was looking for until ... I saw this case
I immediately loved it.

So I rushed to the yarn shop and choose the colours I wanted and started. It is almost finihed now, all that is left to do is crochet the ribbon to close the case.

I have used Catania for this crochet hook case.

The case is crocheted in a combination of single and double crochet stitches.

I have used a white sewing thread to sew the different compartments for my crochet hooks. It is invisible.

My second work in progress is a wrap for my youngest daughter. Those of you who have a subscription to Simply Crochet also received the extra booklet with the last issue. The booklet is dedicated to crochet cotton and several cute patterns are featured in it, such as a the infinity scarf I am currently making.

The scarf is crocheted with hook size 1.5 mm and crochet cotton. My daughter picked the colours. She likes bright colours!

I have a huge stash of this cotton because I use it to crochet jewelry (besides silk). Needless to say it takes some time to crochet just one round :) But I like the result.

The idea is to repeat the coloured bands twice. I have only repeated the red so far, so still some work to do!
